Romulo’s unique areas of expertise are in business operations, financial analysis, strategic planning, team development, and developing sustainable service cultures. His valuable experience comes from working with hotel owners, operators, and general managers in multi-lingual and culturally diverse areas both nationally and internationally, including Caribbean-Latin America and South Florida.
Throughout his career, Romulo has bridged cultural differences in hotel operations by integrating talented individuals from all over the world, giving these properties a unique advantage over their competitors. He brings a highly-developed understanding of the political, economic, and cultural differences found in each region he serves. And rather than employing a one-size fits all mentality when evaluating a hotel’s needs, Romulo effectively applies a fresh approach that efficiently and effectively utilizes the unique talents of an operation’s team member, which makes every person involved a true asset for the operation.
Romulo is professionally proficient in English and Spanish, and he has general working proficiency in French, Italian, and Portuguese. His other areas of expertise include vendor negotiations, client relations and guest satisfaction, personnel leadership and development, sales strategies, budget planning, operations streamlining, brand and regulatory compliance, and renovations and PIPs oversight.
BACKGROUND:
He started his career in Hospitality Operations when he served as Director of Sales and Marketing at the Metro Hotel & Marina Resort in the Dominican Republic. There, he promoted and contracted with international tour operators from Europe, the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. Later, He served as General Manager for multiple hotel properties under Island Hospitality Management (formerly Innkeepers Hospitality) and the Wynn Building Corporation. Most recently, he was Regional Vice President of Hotel Operations Southeast for Baywood Hotels, where he managed the overall operations of 8 – 12 select service and extended stay hotels under the Marriot, Hilton, IHG, and Choice flags.
He has consistently proven to be a leader who has created positive work environments that value team members’ training and professional development and his demonstrated track record as an innovative and profit-centered hospitality operations specialist who consistently exceeds expectations and increases bottom line earning has made him a valuable asset to any operation.
Romulo earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management at PUCMM Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (in partnership with Cornell University) and later completed his Postgraduate Studies in Marketing at INTEC Insituto Technologico also in the Caribbean.
Other interests include social studies, organizational cultures, US History, and personal development. An avid sailor, on his time off, he loves to cruise the Biscayne bay and the upper Florida Keys on the 32” sloop “Franella”.
