Silverado Resort and Spa, a luxury resort in the heart of classic Napa Valley wine country, has named Devon Pritchard to the position of resort pastry chef. Prior to joining the Silverado Resort culinary team, Pritchard served as pastry chef at Camden Spit & Larder, a London-inspired eatery, in downtown Sacramento, California.
According to Todd Shallan, vice president and managing director of Silverado Resort and Spa, Pritchard oversees all things pastry at the resort, including desserts and pastries served at signature restaurant The Grill, at the Mansion Bar, Silverado Market & Bakery and Boost Café, as well as customizing on-site catering for meetings, weddings and special occasions. He recently revamped the 30-plus house-made pastries offered at the Market and The Grill and is looking forward to working with local farmers to highlight the resort’s primo Napa Valley location and history by creating offerings that feature regional wines including Madeira and other seasonal vineyard products – especially during annual holiday celebrations.
“Devon’s energy and creative drive to show off his expertise in the pastry kitchen are an important part of what he brings to his job,” said Shallan. “We like his style of making rustic sweets with a twist on the classics for our various destination dining venues, as well as his focus on seasonality.”
Pritchard’s goal during his 13-year culinary career has always been to “create a memory for his guests.” Prior to his work at Camden Spit & Larder, he served as pastry chef at Sacramento Catering Collective and worked with Silverado’s executive chef Patrick Prager at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants while at Kimpton Sawyer Hotel as pastry and banquet cook.
He graduated from Sacramento City College and Community College of Baltimore in Maryland. Before his college graduation, he earned a diploma at a Baltimore high school from its culinary and pastry arts certificate program.
