Smith Hill Capital, the dedicated private credit and commercial real estate debt investment management business of Procaccianti Companies, announced today that Jon Stein has joined the firm as Principal. In his new role, Stein will focus on originating, structuring, and executing commercial real estate debt investments while helping expand the firm’s lending platform and institutional relationships.

Stein brings more than two decades of commercial real estate credit investment experience spanning loan origination, underwriting, capital markets, and portfolio management across multiple market cycles. Throughout his career, he has sourced, structured, and closed billions of dollars in commercial real estate debt investments across the capital stack, including senior loans, mezzanine financing, preferred equity, and distressed debt opportunities.

Prior to joining Smith Hill Capital, Stein served as Managing Partner, Investments at Torchlight Investors, where he was a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and helped lead investment strategy, origination, and fundraising. During his tenure, he played a key role in growing the private investment platform and overseeing national origination efforts. He previously held senior leadership roles at Allegiant Real Estate Capital, Realty Finance Trust, Brookfield Asset Management, and Credit Suisse.

“Jon’s experience, relationships, and investment acumen make him an outstanding addition to our team,” said Brendan McCormick, Managing Principal, Smith Hill Capital. “He has built an exceptional reputation across the commercial real estate finance industry and brings a senior-level perspective and execution capabilities that will further strengthen our platform as we continue to grow. His experience sourcing and structuring complex transactions across market cycles aligns perfectly with our investment approach and long-term strategy.”
