Borgo Di Colleoli Estate, Italy

The sprawling estate is nestled in the stunning Tuscan hills, representing the latest in Karma’s stable of spectacular European estates alongside Le Preverger on the French Riviera, Pelikanos on the Greek island of Mykonos and the soon to open Chateau de Samary in Carcassonne, France.

Over the years, the original medieval castle evolved to become an aristocratic villa and estate. During the 17th and 18th centuries, much renovation work was carried out to the frescoes and delicate mouldings, transforming the Borgo into an elegant country retreat. Today the estate encompasses the main villa and the surrounding farm buildings, including a hayloft, a workshop and an administrative building. The Borgo was restored in 2003 under the guidance of the Italian Fine Arts Commission to transform it into a unique holiday destination, with the 50 well-appointed guest apartments situated in the former farm buildings. No two rooms are completely alike, but all are redolent with a Tuscan flair, which is so very much part of the charm of the Borgo. The palatial main villa houses 12 beautiful and spacious suites. The Borgo di Colleoli is the perfect venue for tasting the excellent local wine, in the very good wine bar, which also serves breakfast, snacks and aperitifs throughout the day, whilst the estate’s restaurant is the ideal place to enjoy traditional Tuscan recipes. Guests can strike out and explore the beautiful countryside or relax amongst the ancient olive groves before taking a dip in either of the two panoramic pools.

ÒI have had an eye on Borgo di Colleoni for quite some time and am delighted to announce that Karma Group has acquired the estate in the superb hills of Tuscany, one of my favourite parts of the world,Ó said John Spence, Founder and Chairman of Karma Group. ÒWe will be open for the summer season as we renovate and refurbish the property to bring it up to our high standards. The magnificent location of the estate is close to many attractions and I have no doubt whatsoever that this will be a hugely popular destination for Karma guests both old and new, from all around the world.Ó

The 50-room estate is strategically located just a short distance from all the best tourist destinations in the area. Guests can easily visit the romantic and artistic cities of Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Pisa and Florence, explore the beautiful Tuscan hills or play a memorable round of golf; or perhaps go to the seaside, with the Borgo di Colleoli Estate being located just a few kilometres from the Etruscan Coast with its renowned beaches of Forte dei Marmi, Pietrasanta, Viareggio and Cecina as well as the beautiful and historical towns of Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci.
